He talks to Len. He wants his rights, not charity. He says he lived a decent life. He was a bad boss(Len's boss), a bad father and husband. He is mad that Len is in Heaven even though he was a murder, so he decides to return to Hell rather than except Len's help.

A Spirit. He was a murder who killed Jack(who is in Heaven). But he had a change of heart and made it to Heaven. But what was worse than the murder was his thoughts toward his boss, the Big Ghost. He was asking for Big Ghost's forgiveness, and is trying to get him to Heaven.

- He doesn't believe in any absolute facts or truths, including God. He thinks the Grey Town will turn bright instead of dark. Doesn't realize that the Grey Town is Hell, if anything, he thinks it's Heaven. Doesn't think Heaven and Hell are actual places. He was an Anglican bishop.

-he tries to bring apples back to Hell to sell it and creat demand; he wants to make a business in Hell. He tried to pick up the best apples but they were too heavy. But he was able to push and roll the smallest apple, which was incredibly painful. The Water-Giant(Waterfall) tells him he's a fool because there is no room for it in Hell.

When the Water-Giant(Waterfall) tells the Intelligent Man that he was a fool because there was no room in Hell for the apple.

-He thinks Heaven isn't that great; it's just a publicity stunt. He thinks Heaven and Hell are run by the same people. Thinks Heaven will eventually rain and look bad so there's no point in staying.
