what is genetic engineering?
placing a gene with a desired characteristic from one species and into a different one.
what are the benefits are genetic engineering for agriculture?
increase crop yield with the same area of land

what are the disadvantages of genetic engineering?
Introduce new allergen- cause people to become allergic to an organism.
gene transfer to other species- wild plants become toxic for insects therefore disrupting the food chain.

scientist puts foreign gene into organism at an early stage in their development. As it develops, the crop/animal displays the favourable characteristic coded by the foreign gene
