Angina Pectoris
Chest pain associated with ischemia due to narrowing of at least one major coronary artery.
Stable Angina
Predictable chest pain that occurs with exertion such as exercise or strenuous activity.
Unstable Angina
Preinfarction angina that is more common than stable angina or Prinzmetal's angina.
Prinzmetal's Angina
Variant angina that occurs with pain at rest due to coronary artery vasospasm.
Signs & Symptoms of Angina
Chest pain relieved by rest and nitroglycerin.
Reperfusion Procedures
Medical interventions aimed at restoring blood flow to the heart, such as bypass surgery or PCI.
Nitrates
Vasodilators like nitroglycerin that reduce pain caused by ischemia, usually administered sublingually.
Calcium Channel Blockers
Medications that relax blood vessels, increase oxygen supply to the heart, and decrease the workload of the heart.
Antiplatelets/Anticoagulants
Medications that prevent platelet aggregation and thrombosis, thereby reducing myocardial oxygen consumption.
Beta Blockers
Medications that reduce myocardial oxygen consumption by lowering heart rate and contractility.
