Cycle of Violence

Consists of three phases: Tension Building, Violent Eruption, and Calm, Loving, Denial.

Dating Violence

Physical or sexual abuse that occurs in a dating relationship.

Mandated Reporting Laws

Laws requiring individuals to report any suspicions of child abuse or neglect.

Emotional Abuse

A form of abuse characterized by verbal and psychological harm, often common among teens.

Child Neglect

Failure to provide necessary food, clothing, healthcare, or security for a child.

Resiliency

The ability of children to remain strong despite exposure to family violence.

IPV Trends

Statistics showing that 1 in 5 women experience IPV, with transgender women disproportionately affected.

Situational Couple Violence

Conflict in relationships that arises from arguments and has equal rates of male and female victims.

Physical Abuse

Includes actions such as beating, slapping, kicking, and sexual assault.

Emotional Neglect

Failure to provide adequate care, attention, and guidance to a child.

Verbal Abuse

A form of emotional abuse that involves name-calling and threats.
