intrinsic
adductors, abductors, glottal tensors/relaxers
origin and insertion inside the larynx
lateral cricoarytenoid
rotate out, not used in speech production, used in breathing/ swallowing
origin; lateral cricoid
insertion: muscular process of arytenoid
Posterior cricoarytenoid
Abductor: twists to cause opening motion
orgin: posterior cricoid
insertion: muscular process of arytenoids
laryngeal elevators and depressers:
elevators cause the larynx to rise during swallowing and depressors cause it to go back down into place
Thyromuscularis
The glottal relaxer
Origin: thyroid cartilage
Insertion: muscular process
laryngeal elevator
things that are going to raise the larynx
laryngeal depressors
things that are going to pull larynx back down
