Cytoplasm
Intracellular fluid (ICF) containing organelles; the watery environment inside the cell; mainly water; site of glycolysis (glucose metabolism that produces ATP).
Intracellular fluid (ICF)
Fluid inside the cell; part of the cytoplasm.
Organelles
Specialized structures within the cytoplasm that perform specific cellular functions.
Glycolysis
The glucose metabolism process that produces ATP, occurring in the cytoplasm.
Nucleus
The organelle that controls cellular activity; the cell's command center.
Extracellular materials
Substances found outside the cell, including extracellular fluid, secretions, and extracellular matrix.
Extracellular fluid (ECF)
Fluid outside cells that contains nutrients, regulatory substances, and wastes; includes interstitial fluid, blood plasma, and cerebrospinal fluid.
Extracellular matrix
Substance secreted by cells, composed of proteins and polysaccharides, that self-assembles into an organized mesh to bind body cells together.
Cellular secretions
Including digestive secretions, and lubricating fluids.
