Anatomical position

Body facing forward, feet are parallel to each other, arms are at he sides with the palms facing forward

Sagittal plane

It divides your body up into right and left sides.

Frontal plane

It divides the body into anterior(front) and posterior(back).

Transverse plane

It divides the body into the top and bottom parts. The top part is called superior, the bottom part is inferior.

Lateral

Away from the midline

Medial

towards the mid line.

Superior

The upper part of the body.

Inferior

The lower part of the body

Anterior

front of the body.

Posterior

back of the body.

Proximal

closer to the center of the body.

Distal

far away from the center of the body.

Superficial

toward the the surface

Deep

away from the body surface
