What is a longitudinal study? Give an example of it?

• A study that follows the sample for a long span of time

• Example: a Harvard study about happiness that follows people from when they are young adults to their old age and other generations

What is a cross-sectional study?

A study where subjects from many groups participate in → maximize generalizability

How many major types of research are mentioned in AP Psych? Name all them and each’s purpose.

There are 3 major types

• Experimental: cause-and-effect relationship

• Correlational: find out the degree of association

• Clinical: case study, specific for just 1 single subject
