14th amendment

due process clause

“nor shall any state deprive any person of life, liberty, or property without due process of law”

birthright clause

a provision in the 14th Amendment that establishes citizenship for anyone born in the United States, ensuring that they have the same rights as all citizens.

selective incorporation

prevents states from enacting laws that would violate individual liberties, ensuring a consistent application of these rights across the nationby applying the Bill of Rights to the states through the 14th Amendment's due process clause.
