Oral Drug Administration
Medications given by mouth, including sublingual, buccal, tablets, capsules, and liquids.
Transdermal/Topical Drug Administration
Medications applied to the skin or mucous membranes.
Instillation Drug Administration
Medications administered as drops or sprays into the eyes, ears, or nose.
Inhalation Drug Administration
Medications inhaled into the lungs.
Nasogastric/Gastrostomy Tube Drug Administration
Medications administered through a tube inserted into the nose or stomach.
Suppository Drug Administration
Medications inserted into the rectum or vagina that melt at body temperature.
Parenteral Drug Administration
Administration of medication by injection. Includes Intradermal, Subcutaneous, Intramuscular, and Intravenous.
Intradermal Injection
Injecting a drug into the dermis layer of the skin.
Subcutaneous Injection
Injecting a drug into the subcutaneous tissue.
Intramuscular Injection
Injecting a drug into the muscle.
Intravenous Injection
Injecting a drug directly into a vein.
Z-track Injection
Technique where the skin is pulled to the side before injection, then released after, to seal medication into the muscle
