A ferrous metal used for machine parts. Hard outer skin but brittle at core. Good under compression

High speed steels

A ferrous alloy used for drill bits. Tough, high level of resistance against frictional heat. Contains tungsten

Stainless steel

A ferrous alloy used for sinks and kitchenware, it is lightweight and light in colour. Tough, corrosion resistant
