Circular Motion
When an object turns about an axis that passes through the object.
Tangential Speed
The distance traveled by a point on a rotating object divided by the time taken to travel that distance.
Rotational Speed
The number of rotations or revolutions per unit of time.
Rotational Inertia (I)
The property of an object to resist changes in its rotational state of motion.
Torque
An influence that changes the rotational speed of an object.
Center of Mass (CM)
The average position of all the mass that makes up the object.
Center of Gravity (CG)
The average position of weight distribution in an object.
Centripetal Force
A force directed toward a fixed center of a rotational motion.
Centrifugal Force
An apparent outward force experienced by an occupant inside a rotating system.
Angular Momentum
The inertia of rotation of rotating objects, defined as rotational inertia times angular velocity.
Conservation of Angular Momentum
States that if no external net torque acts on a rotating system, the angular momentum remains constant.
