Operant model
Behavior is reinforced through mediation of other people
Verbal operants
A group of responses that share a history of occurring under similar circumstances and resulting in simular consequences (ex. Mand, Echoic, Tact, ect...)
Mand
A verbal operant that specifies it's reinforcer in response to deprivation or aversive states (demand, command, request)
Echoic
Reproduces acoustic properties of another's verbal behavior (imitation, echo)
Tact
Corresponds to other's responses to events, people, objects, relationships (label, name)
Extended Tact
Occurs in response to stimuli other than the original stimulus due to stimulus generalization (over extention, similie, metaphore, idiom)
Intraverbal
Verbal behaviour influenced by the speakers own prior behavior (counting, reciting, adage)
Textual
Verbal behavior in response to print stimuli (reading)
