Texas annexation from Mexico 1845

1. Mexico gave Texas freedom but limited

2. Texas became independent since 1836, which later became a part of US by congress

3. Mexico bans slavery, but Texas continued it (TX was part of Mexico)

Mexican-American war 1846

1. Mexican President, Pok, declared war on America bc Texas became a state of US

2. Nevada, Colorado, California, New Mexico, Florida, Utah, Oklahoma agreed the treaty

3. US and Mexico signed the treaty of Guadalupe-Hidalgo

Massacre of sand creek 1864

1. Sand Creek, Colorado

2. Black kettle, the chief of Cheyenne, asked the sand creek for protections

3. The sand creek accepted, but one day later Colorado volunteers went to sand Greek to shoot 400,000 people

4. Black kettle and the Cheyenne raise the flag for proof that they want peace, not to fight

Red clouds War (1866-1868)

• Most intense war between native Americans vs west settlers

• Many Sioux people got aggressive and ravage the property of the Americans

• Motivated by U. S. Army built to protect the west settlers intentionally instead of Sioux

The Great Sioux War (1876-1877)

• The U. S. army took away some land from Sioux including black hills bc of the battle of the little longhorn

• Most of the Sioux chiefs surrendered in 1877, except sitting bull, which later he did in 1881

• Wounded-knee massacre (1890)the

• The last major war between West settlers and Native-Americans

• The cops found the ghost dance of Sioux and shoot 300 people including the sitting bull
