the study of how ecological and evolutionary pressures cause behavioural adaptations
Optimal foraging theory
Seeks to explain the behavioural decisions organisms make under various conditions, while relying on the assumption that organisms will attempt to increase their fitness by maximizing the rate of energy intake during a foraging bout
Null hypothesis
the null hypothesis specifies or implies a distribution and its parameters and enables us to calculate expected values
Alternative hypothesis
the alternate to the null hypothesis. only one hypothesis can be true, and the simpler null hypothesis will be accepted unless there is a good reason to reject it
