Ecology ( solution ) - > earth is in danger + solutions

Natural Disasters - > measures to reduce the effects (earthquakes / Tsunami / volcano… + Study, Research to predict and follow safety procedures)
stop cutting down the trees + plant more trees ≠ Man_made disasters ( Pollution / Global Warming )
Solutions - > individual responsibilities (R.R.R.) / energy saving / ecodriving / economical methods (cleanliness) + Governments & organisations: sensitizing people / pass and implement strict laws + + ban polluting activities (chemicals & nuclear) + protect nature (forests, seas, species…)

Ecodriving

pollution + solutions
alternative ‘if it’s not far; don’t go by car’

= > It doesn't matter what you drive: neverthelas it really matters how you drive. There are things you can do to save money and reduce energy use, CO2 emissions and pollution

Ecodriving The Concept : Ecodriving means smarter and more fuel-efficient driving. Ecodriving represents a new driving culture that makes best use of advanced vehicle technologies, while improving road safety. Ecodriving considerably contributes to climate protection and pollution reduction.

Ecodriving-The Benefits

Safety: Improve road safety Enhance driving skills
Financial: Save fuel/ money - Lower vehicle maintenance costs - Reduce. costs of accidents
Environmental: Reduce greenhouse gas emissions (CO2)- Fewer local air pollutants- Noise reduction
3. Ecodriving-ways to save energy and ecology
Regular car maintenance (check oil & tyre pressure) To start with, regular maintenance of your vehicle is the key to keep your machine ecologically 'green'. You should get the car serviced regularly according to the manufacturer's schedule to maintain engine efficiency. Besides, you'd better make sure you use the right specification of engine oil and check tyre pressures regularly and before long journeys.
Safe driving style (avoid sudden breaks/ smooth use of gear/ avoid unnecessary options) Add to this, your driving habits ought to be minded. While you are en route, you're highly recommended to drive smoothly, accelerate gently and read the road

Essay: About the environment: let’s save our environment

The earth is suffering from the imbalance due to humans activities. Unfortunately, many natural resources such us wood, iron, fuel and mainly water are menaced because of the over-exploitation. - > Consequently, the earth’s resources and energy are limited. Above all, chemical products affect the climate change which results from the burning of toxic gases in the atmosphere. Moreover, it can cause global warming - > which is another serious problem. There are many casualties for this issue which endangers not only the human beings existence, animal ecological system but also plants’ life and efficiency. All these examples damage our vital global system. So it’s high time we should look for solutions to save our environment and the lives of millions of people.= > To do so, we should sensitize people about these dangers and make them aware of their real environmentally friendly actions. I think by doing so, we will be able to save our environment and make it clearer and healthier. We should act not later and immediately because everyone is responsible for protecting the earth as we all depend on it.

Essay 2: Our environment is suffering, let’s save it…..

Over the 21st century, technology has become a curse to nature. First of all, the excessive use of vehicles that emit lots of CO2 in the air contributes in the great amount of smog. Then, the furniture companies are over-exploiting forests and leading us to deforestation. As a matter of fact, we are killing ourselves without thinking and endangering the existence of all living creatures. So, let’s be reasonable, think wisely and act together immediately to save the gift of God by following simple tips: Above all, remember that your golden rule must be “Recycle, Reduce and Reuse”. Furthermore, saving energy with simple acts is the first step everyone is asked to take. So, switch off the taps while you brush your teeth and turn off the lights, the computer or any appliances before you leave the room! We should be philanthropist and give old clothes to charities; they will be useful to needy people. Eventually, try to use organic material and economy-saving gadgets. Thus, let’s consider the earth a fortune borrowed by the next generations and protect it to them to live in a better quality of life.

Unit 4 / Life Issues: Global Warming

Definition - > Global warming is the observed and projected increases in the average temperature of Earth’s atmosphere and oceans

Man-made Causes:

  • Pollution (factories/ cars/ wars)

Use of chemicals in all domains - Nuclear & chemical wastes dumped in the oceans and seas - Nuclear wars - Deforestation (Tropical rain forests) Drawbacks

-Natural imbalance - > Higher sea level leading to flooding of low-lying lands and deaths and disease from flood and evacuation - More extreme weather and an increased frequency of severe and catastrophic storms + Extinction of additional species of animals and plants+ loss of animal and plant habitats

    Food shortages :

Starvation, malnutrition, and increased deaths due to food and crop shortages + Increased disease in humans

  • Increased emigration of those from poorer or low-lying countries to wealthier or higher countries seeking better (or non-deadly) conditions

Urban life vs Rural life

Urban life

Advantage - > services : proximity to major and varied services + employment : majority of higherpaying jobs / careers are found there +transportation : mass transit , buses, taxis …etc + means of entertaiment ( cinema - club - stadium - theatre )

Drawbacks - > Crime + pollution ( more people - more noise - factories and car emmisions ) + clear distinction between social classes + traffic jams + high cost of living

Rural life

Advantage - > less natural environs + class differences are not as distinctive + more social / support network - > social virtues of love , neighbourhood and solidarity + health vs disease, fresh air vs pollution + calm vs noise, crowd vs open space +
community virtues vs moral decline + alot of privacy

Drawbacks - > limited transportation available - limited employment opportunities - lack of services

Virtue

Virtue, by definition = > is the moral excellence of a person. A morally excellent person has a character made-up of virtues valued as good. He or she is honest, respectful, courageous, forgiving, and kind, for example. Because of these virtues or positive character traits, he or she is committed to doing the right thing no matter what the personal cost, and does not bend to impulses, urges or desires, but acts according to values and principles. Some might say that good qualities are innate and developed through good parenting, which they are, but we're not perfect. Virtues need to be cultivated become more prevalent or habitual in daily life. With the habit of being more virtuous, we take the helm of our own life, redirecting its course towards greater fulfilment, peace and joy.

Essay: About Values and Attitudes
Life without values and good manners becomes a hell. We can cite common attitudes that lead us towards conformity and citizenship.
First, we should think about the others in order not to be selfish and alienated from society. Thus, living in a society requires flexibility and tolerance. Second, we had better be patient and self-confident to win the other's respect and to achieve our goals. Another important criterion in a good personality is determination .In fact, we work and convince others about the positive consequences of our projects. We ought to act and always start with ourselves to realize success. Commitment is also important to open horizons for future achievements.
Eventually, be cool, self-reliant and ambitious and you will gain your happy life.
