Texas Annexation

1844

Texas was admitted to the Union after declaring independence from Mexico in 1836 and seeking U.S. annexation.

It had recognized the U.S claims to the Oregon Territory but led to future border disputes along the Rio Grande River contributing to the Mexican-American War.
