Speaking test part 1

Where are you from?

I live in Alphen aan den Rijn, a city located between Leiden and Utrecht. I have lived here my whole life!

How must I answer the questions during this part of te speaking exam?

Not to short, not to long and try to answer each question without the present simple.

Which grammar do I have to use instead of the present simple?

Present perfect: I have always loved pigs, because they remind me of my sister.

Or try used to + infinitive: When I was younger I used to love pigs, because they reminded me of my sister, but now I don’t. I prefer fish.

What do you use to talk about wants and desires?

If only/I wish + past simple: Do you have a brother? If only I had a brother. He would be my best friend!

What does an average weekday look like for you?

At the moment, a typical weekday for me consists of going to my internship. I am currently doing an internship at Theater Bellevue in Amsterdam, where I work on my thesis and help out in the marketing and communication department. So far, I have a really great time here!

How is your relationship with your family?

I have a great relationship with my family because I still live at home and spend a lot of time with them. For example, we have a game night every month, and in the evenings, I often watch series or movies with them. We also share the same sense of humor, which makes our time together even more fun.

What do you like to do for fun with your friends?

I love going out for dinner or cooking together with my friends. This is because it allows us to enjoy good food while also catching up on everything that has happened in our lives. Besides that, I really enjoy going to concerts with friends. I love music, and many of my friends do too.

Do you play any sports?

I practice synchronized swimming, which is like dancing in the water. I've been doing it since I was 11, and I’ve always been part of a team. At the moment, I train twice a week. My team isn't focused on competition; we do it more for fun.

Which degree are you studying for right now?

Nowadays, I am studying at Leiden University of Applied Sciences. I am studying Communication and I’m currently in the final year of my bachelor’s degree. This is also why I’m doing my graduation internship at Theater Bellevue. So, I’ll probably have my bachelor’s degree in the pocket before the summer break!
