Secondary Oocyte
The ovum that contains most of the cytoplasm and organelles from the oogonium.
Ovulation
The release of an ovum from the ovary.
Uterus
The organ that lies posterior and superior to the urinary bladder, where a fertilized egg can implant.
Tubal Ligation
A surgical procedure that involves entering the abdominopelvic cavity to cut or block the fallopian tubes.
Vasectomy
A surgical procedure to cut and seal the vas deferens to prevent sperm from entering the seminal fluid.
Graafian Follicle
The mature ovarian follicle that releases an oocyte during ovulation.
Infundibulum
The funnel-shaped opening of the fallopian tube near the ovary.
Zygote
The fertilized egg that results from the fusion of sperm and ovum.
Endometrial Tissue
The tissue lining the uterus that can sometimes enter the abdominopelvic cavity.
Spermiogenesis
The final stage of spermatogenesis where spermatozoa develop and lose excess cytoplasm.
Acrosome
A cap-like structure on the head of a sperm that contains enzymes to help penetrate the ovum.
Urinary Bladder
The organ that stores urine, located anterior and inferior to the vagina and uterus.
