What is the purpose of First Part Qualification (FPQ)?
The purpose of FPQ is to verify that fabrication and inspection procedures comply with engineering drawings and specifications using the first production part.
What is required from the processor before FPQ begins?
The processor must submit an FPQ Test Plan, evidence of readiness qualifications and approvals, and ensure all necessary deliverable materials are available.
What documents are referenced as applicable to FPQ?
BAC5300, BACSS14, BACS555, BAC5968, D-16925, D1-4426, D6-49327.
What are the typical steps in the FPQ procedures?
Submit FPQ Test Plan, determine processor readiness, approve Test Plan, fabricate first part, submit FPQ Record, approve or outline corrective actions.
What is included in an FPQ Test Plan?
Qualifications list, cover page, revision record, manufacturing plan draft, deliverable materials list, tools and equipment list, NDI techniques description.
What factors determine the necessity of an FPQ on-site visit?
Past performance of the processor, criticality of the part, service history, and complexity of tooling or manufacturing process.
What must be included in the FPQ record submitted to Boeing?
FPQ Test Plan cover page, thermal profile, manufacturing plan, inspection records, and corrective actions if applicable.
What happens if FPQ is not granted?
The FPQ must be performed again after corrective actions have been implemented.
What are the criteria for grouping parts into families for FPQ?
Differences in adhesives, geometries, cure cycles, part size/contour, design complexity, and inspection methods.
What evidence must the processor provide to demonstrate readiness for FPQ?
Evidence of facility qualification, autoclave qualification, approved NDI Plan, and availability of required materials and tools.
