What is Newton’s first law?

an object will remain at rest or continue to travel with constant velocity unless acted upon by a resultant force

What is Newton’s second law?

the net force acting on an object is directly proportional to the rate of change of momentum, and is acting in the same direction

What is Newton’s third law?

When two objects interact, forces on each other that are of equal magnitude and act in opposite directions

What is momentum?

product of the object’s mass and velocity

Is momentum scalar or vector?

vector - magnitude and direction

What is impulse of a force?

change in momentum

What is area under a force-time graph?

equal to the impulse over that time duration (change in momentum)

What is the principle of conservation of momentum?

for a system of interacting objects, the total momentum in a specified direction remains constant, as long as no external forces act on the system

What is KE in elastic collision?

stays the same before and after

What is KE in an inelastic collision?

some of the kinetic energy will be lost, KE is reduced after collision
