He is known for the father of realism.

He created stone breakers,1849 which was destroyed in WW2

-burial at omenans, almost mural size and the subject was contriversal

-The artists studio,1855: he was denyed for this painting in the salon and he made his own show to go against the society

-source of the louve, 1864 and created the Paris society. Which was an artist circle
