Vocab + Sentence
Inquisitive
Given to examination or investigation; inclined to ask questions
Sentence: “And these kids had a whole different style than I was used to. I couldn't get a word in edgewise at class. They were very inquisitive”.
Savvy
Having or showing perception, comprehension, or shrewdness especially in practical matters
Sentence: “ It's because he possessed the kind of savvy that allowed him to get what he wanted from the world”.
Consequential
Having significant consequences
Sentence: “What a child did was considered by his or her parents as something separate from the adult world and not particularly consequential”.
Submissive
Submitting to others
Sentence: “They would be quiet and submissive, with eyes turned away”.

Shortness of duration

A preceding event, condition, or cause

Credentials
Something that gives a title to credit or confidence
Sentence: “Flom's credentials were no better. He says he felt "uncomfortable" when he went for his interviews down town, and of course he did:’
WASP
An acronym; White Anglo-Saxon Protestant. White people historically seen with wealth, political power, and social influence with Protestant background
Sentence: “WASP-y white-shoe legal establishment in New York, has a scene in his book The Scarlet Letters”
Purported
Stating to be true; alleged
Sentence: “"And therefore we purported not to know about it. I remember once we had an issue involving a proxy fight, and one of my senior corporate partners said”
Imperious
Unpleasantly proud & expecting to be obeyed
Sentence: “He was learning manufacturing. He was learning how to negotiate with imperious Yankees”
