Nonparametric Test
A statistical test that does not assume a specific distribution for the data.
Parametric Test
A statistical test that assumes the data follows a certain distribution, usually normal.
Chi-Square Test
A statistical test used to determine if there is a significant association between categorical variables by comparing observed and expected frequencies.
One-Way Chi-Square
Used to determine if different groups differ on a single categorical variable.
Two-Way Chi-Square
Used to assess the relationship between two categorical independent variables and one dependent variable.
Spearman’s Rho
A nonparametric measure of rank correlation that assesses how well the relationship between two variables can be described by a monotonic function.
Mann-Whitney U Test
A nonparametric test for assessing whether two independent samples of observations have equally large values.
Kruskal-Wallis Test
A nonparametric method for comparing more than two groups that does not assume a normal distribution.
Power Analysis
A statistical method used to determine the sample size required for a study to detect an effect of a given size with a certain degree of confidence.
Dependent Variable
The outcome variable that researchers measure in an experiment.
Independent Variable
The variable that is manipulated or categorized to observe its effect on the dependent variable.
