What produces tsunamis?
A tsunami is produced by a sudden and widespread movement of the Earth's crust, which displaces the water above it. This includes, earthquakes, landslides, Submarine volcanic eruptions.
If you are near the coast, what two things should make you worried a tsunami is coming?
1. Feeling a strong or long-lasting earthquake (ground shaking).
2. Observing the ocean water suddenly and unusually draw back from the beach.
