What makes up a T2 reaction
IgG binds to cells, leading to cell damage
(does not have to be IgG, just that IgG is the most common)
Hemolytic Disease of new born
erythroblastosis
What is erythroblastosis
When the mom (Rh-) generates antibodies to the Rh factor on the RBC of the Rh+ baby, this causes problems if the mom has a second baby that is Rh+ bc the mom has memory B cells
How does Rohgam work
It comes from a donor (male Rh-) who has mounted an antibody response to Rh; these antibodies are transferred to the Rh- mom who is pregnant with a Rh+ baby. The antibodies bind to the baby RBC to prevent B-cell activation and memory from forming
Transfusion reactions
antibody response to blood group antigens
How do the antibodies get formed againse the other blood types in the body
They are formed against the microbes in the gut
Where are the antigens located
on the surface of RBC
