gave the british east india company a monopoly on selling tea to the colonies. on dec 16 1773, the sons of liberty dumped about 4 million worth of tea into boston harbor.
intolerable (coercive) acts (1774)
closed to the port of boston and placed an embargo on the city, led to calls for a continental congress.

formed the continental association tto boycott british goods.encouraged colonies to stockpile weapons

british troops marched to concord to seize weapons, first shots of the revulotion were fired at lexington
