What is depolarization?
When Na+ flows into the cell, reducing the negative charge inside and making it more positive.
What event can trigger depolarization?
A ligand (chemical messenger) binding to a receptor, opening ligand-gated sodium channels.
What is hyperpolarization?
When the inside of the cell becomes more negative.
