Linking good or bad qualities of one person or thing to another to make the second one seem better or worse.

Testimonial

Famous/authoritative person recommends a product/service and vouches for its value

Plain Folks

The speaker attempts to gain influence by portraying oneself as an average person who understands the troubles that average ppl face

Card Stacking

A way to manipulate information so that one product looks better than another. This is often done by leaving out important info by comparing evidence in an unfair manner

Bandwagon

encouraging people think/act in some way simply bc other ppl are doing so

Scapegoating/ Common Enemy

Attempt to simplify a complex situation by blaming the enemy

Repetition/ Ad Nauseam

“Brainwashing” by continuously repeating information or ideals

Fear Mongering

Action of deliberately arousing public fear or alarming abt a particular issue.
