sensory neuron

relay neuron

motor neuron
sensory neurons:
found in receptors such as eyes, ears, tongue, brain
carry nerve impulses to the spinal cord and brain
when they reach the brain, they are translated into sensations (vision, hearing, taste, touch)
carry messages from PNS to CNS
have long dendrites and short axons
relay neurons:
found in brain and spinal cord, allows sensory and motor neurons to communicate by connecting them
have short dendrites and short axons
motor neurons:
found in the CNS, connects it to effectors
control muscle movements
when stimulated, they release neurotransmitters that bind to the receptors on muscles, triggering a response and making movement
short dendrites and long axons
