Learning
Change in behavior due to experience.
Reflex
Response that occurs automatically following a stimulus.
Unconditioned Response (UR)
A natural response that occurs automatically when an unconditioned stimulus is presented.
Unconditioned Stimulus (US)
A stimulus that naturally triggers a response without prior conditioning.
Neutral Stimulus (NS)
A stimulus that initially does not elicit a response until paired with an unconditioned stimulus.
Classical Conditioning
A learning process where a neutral stimulus becomes associated with an unconditioned stimulus, eliciting a conditioned response.
Acquisition
The initial learning of the connection between the unconditioned stimulus and the conditioned stimulus when these two stimuli are paired.
Generalization
Performing a reinforced behavior in a different situation.
Discrimination
Responding appropriately to stimuli that signal that a behavior will or will not be reinforced.
Extinction
Decreases in the frequency of a behavior when the behavior is no longer reinforced.
Spontaneous Recovery
The return of a conditioned response after a time delay, without further conditioning.
Taste Aversion
A learned avoidance of a particular food or drink, characterized by: 1. Associations formed over long delays; 2. One-trial conditioning; 3. Specificity of association.
