temperature
A measure of how hot or cold something is.
molecule
A group of atoms joined together in a particular arrangement.
average
A number that summarizes a data set, computed by adding all numbers and dividing by how many numbers there are.
infer
To reach a conclusion using evidence and reasoning.
kinetic energy
The energy an object has because it is moving.
system
A set of interacting parts forming a complex whole.
collision
A moment when two objects hit each other.
stability
When something remains mostly the same over time.
transfer
To move from one object or place to another.
thermal energy
The total kinetic energy of all the molecules in a sample.
energy
The ability to make things move or cause change.
matter
Anything that has mass and takes up space.
equilibrium
A balance state in which a system is stable, such as when two or more samples are at the same temperature.
change
When something becomes different over time.
