Hedonism
Primary goal of enjoying life.
Universalism
Values appreciation and respect of others, seeking to protect the larger society and environment over their own self-interests.
Benevolence
Seeks to maximise the wellbeing of those individuals close to them.
Tradition
Values the customs of society, respects tradition.
Conformity
Seeks to avoid actions that are likely to upset social norms or the ‘status quo’.
Security
Prioritises safety and the stability of society, relationships, and oneself.
Environmental Psychology
Kurt Lewin and other psychologists in the 1960s created the field of Environmental Psychology, studying the relationship between individuals and their environments.
Big Five Personality Traits
Robert McCrae and Paul Costa developed the 'Big Five' personality model in 1985, identifying five key traits: Neuroticism, Extraversion, Openness, Agreeableness, and Conscientiousness.
Dark Triad Personality Traits
Delroy Paulhus and Kevin Williams coined the term 'Dark Triad' in the early 2000s to describe the combination of Machiavellianism, Narcissism, and Psychopathy.
