Warm Up
A period of low to moderate intensity exercise intended to increase heart rate and blood flow to muscles before a workout.
Cool Down
A gradual decrease in exercise intensity after a workout to help the body return to its normal physiological state.
DOMS
Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness, a condition that occurs after intense exercise due to muscle tissue microtrauma.
EPOC
Excess Post-exercise Oxygen Consumption, the amount of oxygen required to restore the body to its normal state after exercise.
Bohr Effect
The physiological phenomenon where increased acidity in the bloodstream decreases hemoglobin's affinity for oxygen, promoting oxygen delivery to tissues.
Progressive Intensity Warm Up
A warm-up method that gradually increases the intensity of activity to prepare the body for performance.
Psychophysiological Markers
Indicators used to measure the psychological and physical recovery process after exercise.
Myokines
Cytokines produced by muscle fibers that can have anti-inflammatory effects and contribute to various physiological processes.
Sport-Specific Warm Up
A warm-up routine tailored to mimic the movements and skills of a specific sport to enhance performance.
Active Cool Down
Engaging in light exercise following a workout to facilitate recovery and reduce soreness.
Static Stretching
A flexibility exercise in which a muscle is slowly stretched and held in the stretched position.
Dynamic Stretching
A flexibility exercise that involves moving parts of the body and gradually increasing reach, speed of movement, or both.
Hydration
The process of providing enough fluid to the body to maintain optimal physiological function.
Neuromuscular Capacity
The ability of the nervous system to activate muscular contractions and control movements effectively.
