S.191(1)

One party may give notice to another by personal service, leaving in the mailbox, or mailing to the last known address.

Personal Service

Delivery of a document to a tenant or an apparently adult person in the unit.

LTB Rule 3

Rule that deals with service of documents, providing additional service options not mentioned in the Act.

Courier Service

Deemed received on the next business day after the courier picks up the document.

Service by Email

Allowed if the party has consented in writing; consent can be revoked at any time.

Invalid Service

Incorrectly served notice is deemed valid if the contents were received by the other party within the required time.

Computation of Time Rule

Excludes the day of the first event and includes the day of the second event for computing notice periods.
