What are defence mechanisms responsible for
Enabling the ego to deal w/ conflict between the id and superego. They are what the go uses to keep you happy.
What are the three types of defence mechanisms
Denial - refusing to acknowledge an aspect of reality e.g. exam soon
Repression - Pushing thoughts out of conscious mind, into unconscious bc can’t deal w/ them
Displacement - Transferring feelings from true source of distressing emotion onto substitute target
