what are the five graphical representations?
line graph
Bar charts
Histograms
pie charts
Scatter diagram
line grafts
The least commonly used diagram
Show linear representations of frequency
Used to show changes over the time
Allows us to see trends and patterns at a glance
Bar charts
show frequencies of non-continuous data
Effective at displaying the relative sizes of different groups or categories
You can compare multiple groups within one category
histograms
represent the distribution of frequencies for continuous data
Particularly good at showing weight height and the amount of time something takes
You have to calculate the frequency density, which is class intervals over width
pie charts
represent data proportionately
Often used to display answers from single questions within questionnaire
scattergraph
represent a relationship or correlation between two or more co-variables
what are distribution curves?
are linear representations of data that include a main medium and Mum score to show a spread of data?
three types of dis distribution
Normal distribution
Positive right skewed distribution
Negative left Q distribution
normal distribution
The normal distribution is a type of distribution with a mean medium and motor equal this could be referred to as a belt curve
skewed distribution
sometimes data can be skewed and it’s distribution, e.g. not central
When in this case the mode and mean do not fall in the centre of the distribution curve as they do not do in a normal distribution curve
in a positive right scout distribution, the most common score the mould is lower than the median
In a negative left cute distribution, the most common score is higher than the medium
