Shake spray well prior to use. Hold spray about 6 in from skin and spray for 1-3 s. Do not apply to broken skin or ingest topical products; may lead to systemic absorption and toxicity, particularly cardiac effects. For toothache, apply a small amount of product to the cavity and surround gum; children >2 and <12 y of age should be supervised by an adult when applying. Some formulations contain alcohol and are flammable. Since topical anesthetics work for up to 1 h and can only be used 4 times/d, pain relief is not continuous, and oral pain relievers such as acetaminophen or ibuprofen should be considered
