Complex system of prop roots. Thin pencil-shaped propagules. Dominate the leading edge of the mangrove system
Black Mangrove (avicennia germinans)
Finger like pneumatophores emerging from substate. Unique bean shaped propagules. Exists in more extreme tidal conditions.
White Mangrove (Laguncularia racemosa)
Oval shaped leaves normally have salt crystals on the surface. Normally in the upper portion of swamp/forest. No visible prop roots or pneumatophores.
