Oxygen is usually set between:

2-3 L/ minute

(FYI: liters of oxygen being dispersed per minute)

True or False: Oxygen is flammable

True. it is extremely flammable

3
New cards

True or False: Oxygen is very moisturizing

False it is very dry

4
New cards

How do we solve the oxygen being dry problem

it is passed thru water before given to the patient

it is passed thru water before given to the patient

5
New cards

What is a side effect of the oxygen being dry?

Rhinitis

6
New cards

3 oxygen safety tips

 1. Don’t use around flames or sparks

 2. Do not stand oxygen cylinder upright unless it is secured (it can go BOOM)

 3. Do not carry cylinder by regulator or valve

def. resembles a simple face mask, but side ports are covered with one-way disks to prevent room air from entering the mask. It has a reservoir bag connected to the mask that collects a part of the patients exhaled air while the rest escapes through the side ports.

partial rebreather mask

partial rebreather mask

17
New cards

How much of a patient’s exhale does the partial rebreather mask collect

the first 1/3 exhale

18
New cards

This oxygen therapy is used to make use of carbon dioxide as a repiratory stimulant

partial rebreather mask

19
New cards

def, this oxygen mask is similar to simple face mask but has multiple one-way valves in the side ports which prevent room air from entering the mask but allowed exhaled air to leave the mask. It has a reservoir bag with a one-way valve that prevents exhaled air from entering the reservoir bag. Which allows larger concentrations of oxygen to collect in the bag for the patient to inhale.

term. non-rebreather oxygen mask

FYI: the reservoir bag only collects the oxygen from the oxygen tank that the patient isn’t breathing while they are exhaling

term. non-rebreather oxygen mask

FYI: the reservoir bag only collects the oxygen from the oxygen tank that the patient isn’t breathing while they are exhaling

20
New cards

Which low flow oxygen therapy delivers the highest concentration of oxygen?

Non-rebreather mask

21
New cards

Which low flow oxygen therapy is usually for children?

O2 Tent

22
New cards

A type of high flow oxygen therapy

ventilator

23
New cards

What does the ventilator do

provide oxygen and RESPIRATES the patient

(i.e. helps them breath)
