Energy Transfer
The process of energy moving from one system to another due to temperature differences, work done, or mass flow.
Heat (Q)
The form of energy that is transferred between systems (or a system and its surroundings) due to a temperature difference.
Work (W)
The energy transfer associated with a force acting through a distance.
Dynamic Energy Types
Includes heat, work, and energy of moving mass, interacting across a system's boundary.
Internal Energy (U)
The energy contained within a system, excluding kinetic and potential energy.
Adiabatic Process
A thermodynamic process in which no heat is transferred to or from the system.
Isothermal Process
A process that occurs at a constant temperature.
Isobaric Process
A thermodynamic process at constant pressure.
Specific Energy (q)
The energy per unit mass carried by a flowing mass.
Mass Flow Rate
The mass of a substance which passes through a given surface per unit time.
