Disaster Risk Reduction & Management
An organized system of determining ways and strategies that can prevent disasters from happening.
Disaster Risk Reduction Management (DRRM)
The concept and practice of reducing disaster risk through systematic efforts to analyze and manage the causal factors of disaster.
Mitigation
Refers to sustained actions done to reduce the severity or likelihood of a disaster.
Preparedness
A set of actions geared toward the readiness of key stakeholders that have concern or may be affected should there be any hazard occurrence.
Response
An activity done after the hazard event where rescue teams need to mobilize quickly and efficiently to save human lives and properties.
Recovery
A post-disaster action that leads to resiliency of the community, covering the phase when the community should be able to get back to its normal functioning.
Development and Disaster Risk
Development can either decrease or increase disaster risk.

DRRM policies, laws and regulations will not save lives unless implemented in communities.
