He is telling Oliver that he will fight him for his own honor- so he goes to let Oliver know even though he does not want to fight him. This way he can stop him from fighting him and know it's something of his own search- and not his will.

Duke senior invites them to eat- thats an extraordinary response Orlando brings what we are used to seeing of court but the response is gentle, gentility (class) but duke seinior says the wind hits everyone equally. Hes not worried about class distinction or that hes a duke or that hes a criminal

He will help orlando even if hes expressing his need by threatening his life
