ETAT
Emergency Triage Assessment and Treatment, a process for assessing and managing pediatric emergencies.
Triage
The process of rapidly screening sick children to identify those needing immediate intervention, priority treatment, or non-urgent care.
Emergency signs
Clinical indicators in children that require immediate treatment, such as obstructed breathing, shock, coma, convulsions, severe dehydration, or central cyanosis.
Priority signs
Clinical indicators that suggest a child should be prioritized for treatment to avoid delays, including severe pallor, poisoning, and malnutrition.
ABCD
A mnemonic for assessing airway, breathing, circulation, and disability in emergency situations.
Intravenous (IV) fluids
Fluids given directly into the bloodstream via an IV line, often used in cases of dehydration or shock.
Glucose monitoring
The process of checking a child's blood glucose levels, particularly in cases of suspected hypoglycemia.
Severe malnutrition
A state of nutritional deficiency that can complicate emergency treatment, requiring special management protocols.
Coma
A state of prolonged unconsciousness where a child is unresponsive to stimuli.
Convulsion
An uncontrolled electrical disturbance in the brain that can lead to changes in behavior, movements, feelings, and consciousness.
