Achievement Motivation
The drive to accomplish something difficult and master, manipulate, or organize objects, ideas, or people.
Motive for Success
The desire for the thrill of victory, relief, happiness, and success.
Fear of Failure
The anxiety, guilt, and agony associated with failing to meet one's goals.
Mastery Orientation
An achievement goal focusing on personal improvement and learning.
Performance Orientation
An achievement goal focused on outperforming others with minimal effort.
Avoidance Goals
Goals aimed at avoiding negative feelings or outcomes.
Barriers to Achievement
Obstacles that hinder goal-directed activity, which may be internal (personal barriers) or external (barriers from the outside world).
Thematic Apperception Test (TAT)
A projective test used to evaluate a person's needs and motivations through storytelling based on pictures.
Achievement Theme
A central theme of striving to achieve a goal present in a story.
Level of Aspiration
The performance level an individual aims to achieve or expects from themselves.
Aspiration Determinants
Factors that influence a person's aspiration level, including self-esteem, socialization, and task difficulty.
Goal Setting
The process of identifying and selecting specific objectives or tasks to achieve.
