Greek historian. World’s first historian. Listened to every ones story and wrote it down.

Medians

Control the most amount of territory who over threw the Assyrian empire. Start making alliances with people around them. Partner up with the Lydians and take down the Assyrians.

Persians

From indo europe. Migrated past the Caspian sea. Submitted to the medes. Persian people and society became established by the 1st millennium. Settled east of Elam in a territory known as Persia, Parsa. Developed activities to entertain people. Athletics were big events.

Astyages

King of media. Has dreams that his grandson will overthrow him. Has his daughter marry Cambyses I of Persia. Has another dream that his grandson will steal his riches and fruit. Takes his grandson and gives him to the servant. Servant will raise this baby and give his stillborn child to the king. Becomes very cruel. Appoints harpagus as his general against cyrus.

Cyrus the Great

Founded the achemenid empire. Conquered 3-4 empires. Charismatic, generous, kind, and honest. Has high tolerance to the cultures and religions of the places he conquered. Plays a game and ends up being a nobleman's son. Starts to rebel against his grandfather. Became the shah. Read his enemies well. Had lots of infantry compared to Lydia's calvary. Had camels on the front line, so the calvary freaked out. Has his soldiers scale the mtns outside of sardis to open up the city gates and take the city. Conquered the medians, the lydians, and next Babylon. Only non Jewish person to be given the name Messiah. Developed the persian empire. Most likely died peacefully in bed. Tomb is still intact. Plans to attack Egypt but dies before he can. Memphis surrends. Killed 2000 Egyptians for killing his diplomats.

Croesus

King of Lydia. Richest man in the world at the time.

Harpagus

Supposed to kill cyrus. Helps cyrus take over astyages.

Cambyses II

The oldest son of Cyrus the great. Persian shah who conquered Egypt.

Bardiya

Cambyses brother. Declared himself as shah. Killed by Cambyses(might be a lie we don't know).

Ahura mazda

Main God of Zoroastrianism. Creator God of light truth and wisdom.

Zoroaster/zarathustra

Hated slavery. Had a vision that ahura mazda was the one true God to him. Never wrote anything down.

Magi

Priestly class. Bankers. Had scientific skills and astronomy skills.

Vishtaspa

Born into a noble family and became a small local king in Iran. First to convert to Zoroastrianism.

Darius I

Brought to kill and impostor Bardiya. Riggs a contest to become shah of Persia. Married Cambyses widow and might have killed Cambyses. Deeply Zoroastrian. Known as Darius the Great. Created a new currency called Daricks.

Aristagoras

The new leader of Miletus who started the conflict with Persia and Greece.

Miltiades

Athenian General who leaders them in their fight against Persia.

Mardonius

Tasked to burn down Athens.

Xerxes

Puts down Egypt and Babylonian revolts. Not interested in Greece. Started the second Persian invasion. Spends lots of money and projects don’t go anywhere.

Darius III

His first battle against Alexander is at Isis.Ran away from war twice against Alexander.
