The primary component of a computer responsible for processing instructions.
Arithmetic Logic Unit (ALU)
A component of the CPU that performs arithmetic and logic calculations.
Control Unit (CU)
The part of the CPU that coordinates the movement of data.
Clock Speed
A measure of how quickly a CPU can process instructions, typically measured in gigahertz (GHz).
Multi-core Processor
A CPU containing two or more cores, allowing it to execute multiple instructions simultaneously.
Graphics Processing Unit (GPU)
A specialized processor designed to accelerate graphics rendering.
Motherboard
The main circuit board that houses the CPU, RAM, and other crucial components.
BIOS (Basic Input/Output System)
Firmware used to perform hardware initialization during the booting process.
Random Access Memory (RAM)
Volatile memory used to store data and instructions temporarily while a computer is operating.
Input Devices
Hardware used to input data into a computer, such as keyboards and mice.
Output Devices
Hardware that outputs data from a computer, like monitors and printers.
Printer Types
Different types of printers include inkjet, laser, and thermal printers.
Communication Devices
Devices that enable data exchange between computers, such as modems and network adapters.
Storage Devices
Hardware used to store data, including hard drives, SSDs, and optical discs.
Optical Discs
Data storage mediums that utilize laser technology, including CDs, DVDs, and Blu-ray discs.
