Coordinate Systems
is a system in which a position of a point or an object can be determined by means of numerical values which may be a single number or a group of numbers.

Geographic Coordinate System (GCS)
defines the location of an object on a spherical (or spheroidal) model of the earth.
Geographic Coordinate System (GCS)
represents location on the earth surface by sets of numbers and/or letters. One of the numbers represents the vertical position, and the other will be the horizontal position.
Latitude
is the angle between the equatorial plane and a horizontal line that traverse through a specified object.
Equator
is an imaginary line that divides the northern hemisphere from the southern hemisphere.
Longitude
is the east‐west location of an object on the spherical model.
Projected Coordinate System (PCS)
represents the location of an object on a flat model of the earth (map)
Projected Coordinate System (PCS)
is a systematic way of transforming the spherical globe into a flat plane
Attribute Data
is the storage facility of information for a certain feature in a feature class or shapefile. It isa non‐spatial data.
Attribute Table
is how the information about the features in your shapefile or feature class is presented to the GIS user.
JOIN
appends the attributes of the non‐spatial table to the layer attribute table, making one big table.
RELATE
keeps the two tables separate but linked, so that record selections in one table cause corresponding selections in another.
