What is a neuron?
It is a cell that ransmits an electrical-chemical singnal.
What are the two types of neurons?
Motor neuron and Sensory neuron
What does a motor neuron do?
Sends signal to muscles to contract
What does a sensory neuron do?
Returns sensory information to the brain
What are the main parts of a neuron?
Cell body, dendrites, axon, and myelin sheet.
What are neuotransmitters?
Chemicals that allow neurons to communicat with each other throughout the body.
What are two types of neurotransmitters?
Excitatroy and Inhibitory
What does an excitatory neurotransmitter do?
Stimulates transmission of signle or muscle contraction.
What is an example of an excitatroy neurotransmitter?
Acetylcholine
What does an an inhibitory neurotransmitter do?
Inhibits transmission of signal or muscle contraction.
What is an example of an inhibitory beurotransmitter?
Dopamine
What are three types of bundle of neurons?
Motor, Sensory, or Mixed
What are the two parts of the nervous system?
The central nervous system and the peripheral nervous system
What does the central nervous system consist of?
The brain and spinal cord
What does the peripheral nervous system consist of?
12 cranial nerves, 31 spinal nervers, and lower motor neurons
