A sacrament in which Christian’s use bread and wine ( holy communion ).

What is Christmas

The celebration of Jesus’ birth

  • important as it reminds Christian’s Jesus was god incarnate and it was apart of gods plan so Christian’s will attend a midnight service where carols are sung to celebrate

  • Important as its a time of giving to symbolise the love that god showed and a time to think about poor to show compassion - so Christian’s will give gifts and religious cards but churches will set up shelters for those who need it to host meals.

Celebration to rememember the last week before Jesus crucifixion and resurrection.

  • important as Christian’s remember that death can be conquered and there is a promise of an after life as Jesus’ resurection proved it to be possible - give chocolate eggs to symbolise the new life and beginning after his Resurection

  • Important as Christian’s remember gos omnibenevolence as he sacrificed his son so huamsn could be saved from sin - so will go to church to pray and thank god and Jesus for the sacrifice as it abolished original sin and death

  • Christian’s believe a girl, Bernadette had visions of the Virgin Mary who told her to dig up a spring of water which claimed to have healing properties - influences Christian’s to go to Iona and bathe in holy water to be healed spiritually and physically

  • Believe it will bring them closer to god and Jesus so will go to visit the grotto where Mary appeared and worship with other Christian’s

Street pastors - what are they and why are they important

They are Christian’s who volunteer to care for physical and spiritual needs of people - they will be present in big cities late at night to help vulnerable

  • believe that volunteering as a street pastor will help fuful their Christian duty of putting their faith into action - so will carry water, flip flops, first aid equipment to help those who need it no matter who they are (preventing injustice as god teaches)

  • believed to be A vacation/calling of a religious group to go and spread faith and important as Jesus told disciples to make ddcples of all nations and spread faith so should follow example

  • believed to be important as Jesus reconciled humans from god through his death so Christian’s should work to be reconciled to each other.

A charity set up to help people across the world in need - provide food, water and education - works through churches

Main focus is long term aid: supports schools so children can be in education - ESPECIALLY GIRLS SO DONT ENTER SEX TRADE, teaches farming skills so people dont have to rely on food banks, funds clinics for healthcare and toilets.
